Project

1995 Chevrolet Impala SS

He had been unhappy with the chattering of the clutch & the extremely high engagement point on the pedal for a while. The car was using all stock 1995 Camaro clutch components which are NOT adjustable. The clutch master cylinder line had been previously “drilled” by the original installer and everything visually checked out. To prevent an unnecessary tranny removal, a full hydraulic system flush & bleed as well as shimming the slave cylinder away from the bell housing were completed. This insured there wasn’t any air in the system and moved the engagement point on the pedal closer to the floor. Releasing the clutch went from completely lifting your knee to release the clutch to a flick of your ankle. This made the clutch a lot more controllable and considerably reduced the chattering.

With his drivability issue sorted out, Bob had a few more items he wanted addressed. He had a parasitic draw on the battery, a cracking solid mounted exhaust hanger and needed new front brake pads. His parasitic battery drain end up being caused by stereo system amplifier failing which was then disconnected for repairs. Solid exhaust hangers are never a good idea, a full stainless exhaust system will grow a full inch in length over the length entire system. By utilizing part of his existing hanger bracket and incorporating a traditional rubber mount, the new flexible hanger was fabricated, while also adding a new mount to the passenger side as well. Lastly to finish up this project, new Hawk brake pads were installed in his old school Baer 4-Piston calipers.

Special thanks to Pixel YumYum for capturing the amazing stance and body lines of this car. It definitely ranks up top on our list of most favorite cars!
